Patanjali may become next sponsor of IPL 2020

New Delhi-Yog Guru Baba Ramdev’s company Patanjali wants to replace Chinese company VIVO in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. That means it has also joined the race for the title sponsor of IPL 2020. The company has also confirmed this. At the same time, Amazon, Tata and Reliance Industries Limited also wants to be the title sponsor of  IPL2020. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sought Expression of Interest (EOI) for the title sponsorship rights of IPL 2020 from 10 August. Interested parties can send their applications by 14 August.

According to media reports, Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala has said, “We are thinking of getting IPL title sponsorship this year.” We want to take the Patanjali brand to a global platform. In this regard, we are preparing to send a proposal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Actually, Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Vivo has given up its title sponsorship for IPL 2020. The BCCI also approved it on Saturday, 8 August 2020. In such a situation, BCCI is looking for a new sponsor for the title sponsorship of IPL 2020. At the same time, many names including Jio, Amazon, Tata Group, Dream11, Adani Group and Education Start-Up Byjus to get IPL sponsorship rights are coming up as possible candidates.

Vivo pays BCCI Rs 440 crore every year for the title sponsorship. Due to Corona virus, the market condition is not very good at this time, so the board also understands that for a year, a new company hardly pays as much as Vivo. According to sources, the board is expected to finalize the deal between Rs 180-200 crore. Market experts believe that Patanjali’s claim as a national brand is very strong at the time of the choice of the Chinese company. At the same time, he also says that he (Patanjali) lacks star power as a multinational brand.
