Cabinet decisions: Three more airports in private hands, CAT for government jobs, increased FRP price of sugarcane, rebate to PFC

New Delhi- The Union Cabinet on Wednesday announced several important decisions. It was informed that three more airports in the country have been leased through Public Private Partnership. Also, the National Recruitment Institution (NRA) has been empowered to conduct the Common Eligibility Test for subordinate posts. Apart from this, it has been approved to increase the fair and remunerative (FRP) price of sugarcane by 10 rupees to 285 rupees. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Wednesday that it has been approved to increase the fair and remunerative (FRP) price of sugarcane by 10 rupees to 285 rupees. This price has been fixed for the new marketing season of sugarcane starting October 2020.Javadekar said that this decision has been taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). In the meeting, it was approved to increase the FRP price by Rs 10 quintal for the marketing year of sugarcane 2020 – 21 (October – September).
The Union Minister said, the youth have to take a lot of tests for the job. A historic decision has been taken to end this. The National Recruitment Institution (NRA) will take the Common Eligibility Test which will benefit millions of youth.
He said, the remunerative price for 1 crore sugarcane farmers has been fixed at Rs 285 per quintal. This is based on 10% recovery. Even if the recovery is 9.5% or less, giving protection to the sugarcane farmers will get a price of Rs 270. Javadekar said, the government also takes ethanol at a good price. Last year, the government bought 190 crore liters of ethanol at a price of Rs 60 per liter. He said the Union Cabinet approved a one-time rebate to Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation for lending to discoms above the 25 per cent limit of working capital of last year’s revenue under the Ujwal Discom Assurance Scheme.The Union Minister said that the Union Cabinet approved the proposal of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to lease the Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram airports through Public Private Partnership.Secretary for the government C Chandramouli said that there are more than 20 recruitment agencies in the central government. The Government said that although they are still doing the examination of only three agencies, over time they will be able to do the general eligibility test for all recruitment agencies.Union Minister Jitendra Singh said regarding the decision to get the Common Eligibility Test of government jobs, “this is one of the most historic reforms in the history of independent India. This will bring ease of recruitment, selection, job and living especially for some sections of the society.” He said, the merit list for the Common Eligibility Test will be valid for 3 years, during which candidates can apply for jobs in various fields based on their merit and choice.
