“Sheds to be built in every district panchayat for solid waste management”:Sinnghdeo

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T.S. Singhdev gave information about various aspects of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) on radio . In the special program ‘Hamar Gram Sabha’ broadcast from Akashvani Raipur, he gave detailed information about the work done and future action plan to make the state clean and beautiful under the mission.

Singhdev told in ‘Hamar Gram Sabha’ that the first phase of Swachh Bharat Mission was conducted from 2 October 2014 to 31 March 2020. During this period, 35 lakh 23 thousand household toilets were built across the state to make the villages open defecation free. During the second phase of the mission from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2025, the emphasis is on solid and liquid waste management while maintaining the condition of open defecation free villages. For this, adequate number of community toilets are planned to be constructed in villages and national highways. Public toilets to be built on national highways will also have shops to provide various facilities to the passengers. Their operation through self-help groups will also provide employment to villagers.The Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development said in the program that for the management of solid waste in the villages, sheds will be constructed in each district panchayat area at a cost of Rs 16 lakh. Here plastic, dry and wet waste will be separated and properly managed. Singhdev informed that for the construction of toilets which are not yet built in the houses, the government provides assistance of Rs. 12 thousand. The villagers are given technical information about the toilet by the Panchayat Secretary. He also spoke about the menstrual hygiene management and the Gowdhan Nyay Yojana in the program.
